When to send your wedding invitations out
There are no set rules but you will want to give your guests as much notice as possible.
However, here are a couple of things to consider.
Destination/Large Wedding:
Are you having a destination wedding or a large wedding where by a big portion of the guests will need to travel from afar and book accommodation? If this is the case sending a save the date card 9-12 months before your wedding day is advisable. Follow up with the actual wedding invitation 4-6 months before your wedding day.
Local/small wedding:
If your wedding party is smaller and/or your family and friends are aware of you wedding date then a save the date card is not as necessary. A wedding invitation sent around 3-6 months before your wedding day will be fine.
To recap:
Save the dates: 9-12 months before your wedding day.
Wedding invitations: 3-6 months before your wedding day.
Just to note, don’t panic if you’re behind on these timings, these are just guidelines and we see many couples sending their invites out much closer to their wedding day.
Just get your invites out as soon as you are able to.
